Following an uber successful pop-up in Palm Beach last year, the Connecticut-born viral PopUp Bagels is gearing up to debut its first-ever brick-and-mortar in South Florida this year. The company announced the news on Instagram a couple of days ago, revealing plans to open in Aventura this summer.
But there’s more: founder Adam Goldberg told the Miami New Times that the company will open four South Florida locations in total in 2025, followed by a wider expansion into central and north Florida as well.
“We’ve always wanted to come to Florida,” Goldberg said to the outlet. “[…] We really just needed our infrastructure to be bulkier and in place so that we could successfully operate multiple stores in Florida.”
As fans of the shop know well, Goldberg originally launched PopUp Bagels in his Connecticut backyard during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering folks his unique style of a New York bagel: not only featuring a crispier exterior but served whole alongside creative schmear options that diners are to rip-and-dip their bagels into.
Following viral success and a pretty hefty round of investments from a number of different celebrities, PopUp Bagels really grew into its own and currently operates four shops in New York, four in Connecticut and one in Boston.
News about the imminent Miami opening was met with much fanfare on social media.
“This is huge omg,” someone commented on the announcement post.
“Best news ever!!!!,” another user wrote.
“BEST DAY OF MY LIFE ARE YOU KIDDING,” someone else noted, echoing a widely shared sentiment.
Perhaps, the company could use the comments section on Instagram to plan its next move: plenty of users wrote in requesting the debut of new locations in specific towns across America and beyond. Will Australia soon be home to a PopUp Bagels?
