It’s 8pm on a Monday night. The kids are in bed, finally, and now it’s time for my wife and I to do some serious Netflix-and-chilling. Tonight, we’re going to endeavor to finally start watching Stranger Things, after hearing it being recommended for years by everyone I talk to. And like most, we subscribe to multiple streaming services: Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, to name a few. In 2025, many have cut the cord and stopped paying for linear cable and instead have opted for streaming. But therein lies a problem: how do you find which streaming service has a particular series or movie?
Of course, you could just rent or buy any content from Google, Amazon, and Apple, but if a certain piece of content is included in one of your streaming packages, clearly that’s your best and most economical option. But how do you figure out which content is on which service? Well, there’s a free website that contains a database of every series and movie and which service you can find them, and in this case I was able to see that Stranger Things is streaming on Netflix.

It’s called JustWatch.com, and it’s been an absolute lifesaver for my household. It looks on Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Fubo, HBO, Paramount, YouTube, Starz, AMC, Peacock, and more to see which shows and movies are on each service. I haven’t found a streaming service JustWatch doesn’t cover. The site couldn’t be easier to use: just search for whatever movie or TV show you want to watch. The search results page will take you directly to an index of which streaming services offer the content. If you’re on a web browser, pressing “Watch Now” will go directly to the content to begin streaming (where you’ll have to log in first).

Chances are, you can stream for free
Occasionally, I’ll want to stream a movie that isn’t yet streaming, which means I’ll have to pay $4-5 to rent the title in question. I don’t mind doing that, but I always first check JustWatch to see if the movie in question is streaming for free on a service for which I’m already paying. A large percentage of 90s and early 2000s movies are likely streaming on services you’re already paying for. For example, the 1997 blockbuster Titanic, while available to rent on all streaming platforms, can be streamed for no additional cost on Apple TV. Or Macaulay Culkin’s Home Alone movie series was a smash hit, and JustWatch.com reveals that it’s currently streaming on both Disney+ and Hulu. In some cases, like with the 1994 cultural classic Pulp Fiction, the content is available for free but with ads (Pulp Fiction can be streamed for free on Roku with ads).

Create watchlists of everything you’re streaming

This is a great way to both manage your shows and to discover new ones.

It’s 2025, and the reality is that we live in a streaming world. For better or worse, it’s normal to pay for multiple streaming services at the same time. But it can get confusing, trying to figure out which service is streaming which content. But with JustWatch.com, you can easily answer the question, “Which services are streaming a given show or movie?” so that if you do end up having to pay to rent or buy a particular title, you can at least first see if one of your streaming services already has it for free.
