Disney+ is packed with big-name blockbusters, nostalgic comedies, and fresh original series—but sometimes the sheer amount of choice makes it hard to pick what to watch. If you’re in the U.S. and wondering how to make the most of your weekend streaming time, these five titles stand out right now.
It’s back! Fifteen years after the original run ended, King of the Hill returns, bringing all of Mike Judge’s dry humor back to our screens.
The revival picks up right where the original left off, but with subtle updates that keep the show feeling relevant for 2025. Long-time fans will appreciate the nods to classic moments, while newcomers can jump right in without needing to binge the old seasons first.
While the animations now look a little different, the writing, voice-acting, and overall character development feel similar, which is great to see. I’ve been trying to stay away from reading reviews (which has almost worked), but I know the overall feedback on King of the Hill Season 14 is hugely positive—so I’ve got a proper treat in store this weekend.
I’m planning on taking my kids to see Freakier Friday at some point next week, so what better way to get in the mood than with the 2003 version? It’s a great shout for a family-friendly film; fun, light, and endlessly rewatchable, it ticks all the boxes for us. And whether you’re somehow just watching it for the first time or rewatching for the nostalgia value, it delivers all the right notes.
Jamie Lee-Curtis and Lindsay Lohan make this such a fun watch, even if the plot isn’t the most original. But let’s face it, when you think “Freaky Friday,” you think of this and not the 1970s original version. And more to the point, both actresses reprised their roles in Freakier Friday, so it’s nice to have the continuity.
Marvel Studios’ latest animated entry, Eyes of Wakanda, has been picking up critical praise for its unique approach and dazzling visuals. While it’s set in the world of Black Panther, this isn’t just a rehash of the films. Instead, it dives into fresh stories, exploring the legacy, culture, and high-tech intrigue of Wakanda from new perspectives.
I must admit I didn’t know too much about Eyes of Wakanda before my youngest started watching it. I found the animation style eye-catching and engaging, somewhat blending cinematic elements with some comic-book nods. It’s pretty good, I have to say. For Marvel fans, it’s a must-watch. For animation fans, it’s proof Disney+ can still surprise with quality and creativity.
Episodes are short enough to fit into a busy weekend, but rich enough to make you want to watch them all in one sitting.
Yes, Zootopia has been on Disney+ for years—but it remains one of the most recommended animated movies for a reason. It’s funny, heartfelt, and cleverly written, with layers of social commentary tucked beneath the talking-animal surface.
My kids and I love Zootopia (or Zootropolis in the UK); it’s a firm family favorite. Following rookie bunny cop Judy Hopps and hustler fox Nick Wilde as they unravel a conspiracy in the bustling city of Zootopia, the film manages to be both a buddy-cop comedy and a thoughtful exploration of prejudice and cooperation. It’s endlessly rewatchable, with jokes for kids and sly references for adults.
We also love Idris Elba’s Chief Bogo character, the chief of the Zootopia Police Department, who brings some stern yet amusing moments to the story.
Chris Hemsworth’s brand-new docuseries, Limitless: Live Better Now, is also up there on my list of bits to watch this weekend.
The first season of Limitless (streamed back in 2022) saw Hemsworth taking on challenges to improve his mental and physical resiliency, with a strong focus on trying to outrun the effects of aging.
It was an interesting watch, not least because Hemsworth is given the news that he carries two genes that mean he’s around ten times more likely to suffer from Alzheimer’s. So, far from a series following a wealthy, fit man in his quest to push the limits, it was grounded in some really gritty, real-world moments.
Talking to the BBC, Hemsworth said, The first season almost killed me . . . And I thought, ‘never again.'” Yet, here he is, ready for round two.
I only hope this second series can live up to the first, as it really was a good watch, and one that you may have missed. Limitless: Live Better Now premieres on August 15, meaning you can start watching as soon as you finish reading this article!
