The Sonos app is the best way to interact with the company’s popular, high-quality speakers. Its app has just received a big update with some great new features—and here are some of my favorites.
1 Customizable Home Screen
You’ll definitely notice the redesigned app when you first open it. Instead of needing to flip back between several tabs, the home screen is where you go to access everything you need to control your system and music. It is customizable to create the best experience for you.
After opening the app for the first time, you can head to Edit Home at the bottom of the screen. There, you can reorder content like Recently Played, Your Services, Your Sources, and more on the home screen for quick and easy access. With just a few clicks, you can create the best layout for you. I really enjoyed organizing my home screen with exactly what I needed.
2 Simpler and Better Search
To make the most of your Sonos speaker, you’ll want to find something to listen to. The app update has made it much easier to search. Instead of a separate tab, the search feature is now part of the home screen. Just choose Search.
On top of the search page is the Your Services section. That is all the different streaming services you’ve connected to the Sonos app. It’s also easy to add new options. Below that, just type in what you’re looking for. You can see all the results or scroll between what’s available on the different services.
3 Easier Control of Sonos Speakers
Sonos is well-known for offering some of the best whole-home audio equipment on the market. The app update makes it much easier to access all of your speakers and control each one individually or together.
From the home screen, swipe up to see all the available Sonos speakers in your home. You can also tap the Your System name in the upper-left corner. From there, you can see information like Grouped Rooms and individual speakers. It’s easy to adjust music volume and start or start playback. I have several Sonos speakers in my home, including the Era 300 and Sub Mini I’ve previously reviewed. It’s now so much easier to quickly play something from the app.
If you have Sonos speakers and want to try the redesigned app, you can download it on Android or iOS. I’m a huge fan of Sonos speakers, and the updates and new features have really made the overall experience even better.
