With a manga app, you can easily have all your favorite manga in your pocket. You can start reading where you left off, anywhere and anytime, and keep yourself entertained with your favorite stories. Here are some of the best manga apps for Android and iOS.
1 Shonen Jump
Shonen Jump is where you’ll find some of the most popular manga online. Shonen is a type of manga that mostly targets a young male audience, which is why you’ll find popular titles like Dragon Ball, One Punch Man, and Dr. Stone. If you know and love these titles, Shonen Jump might be the right app for you.
Shonen Jump is owned by VIZ Manga, which means both the interface and experiences are pretty much the same in both apps. That also means you’ll have access to the first three and last three chapters of every manga for free, which is a great plus.
If you want to step up your game, you can subscribe to Shonen Jump to access to its entire library and gain a few perks, like downloading manga to your phone so that you can read it on the go.
Overall, Shonen Jump is a solid choice, but its nice library might not be your cup of tea. If you want more manga options, you’ll be better off choosing VIZ Manga instead.

2 VIZ Manga
If you’re looking for a smooth reading experience, free manga chapters, and a massive library with the greatest and latest manga, VIZ Manga might be the right app for you.
VIZ Manga has a ton of genres and manga for you to choose from. There’s even a manga based on Disney’s Cruella, so it’s pretty easy to find something unique and fun.
The best thing about VIZ is that it offers the latest chapters from the Shonen Jump series for free, making it one of the best legal platforms to read manga online for free. You can read the newest chapters of your favorite manga at no cost. However, if you missed out on some older chapters or just want to start reading from scratch, you’ll need to subscribe.

3 WebComics
WebComics isn’t an app where you’ll find the most popular manga titles out there, but you’ll find many unique titles created for people who love manga. It’s also one of the best sites to read webtoons online.
The app features a huge range of manga creators worldwide. And if you’ve ever dreamed of publishing your own manga or comics, you can become part of the WebComics library, too.
You’ll find manga and comics from every genre possible, from action series to real-life horror stories. The best part is that you can talk and connect with thousands of other manga fans.
It’s one of the best options to find the manga you never knew you wanted and even publish your own content if you know how to draw anime and manga comics. Plus, you’ll also get to connect with a big community.

4 Manga Plus
Manga Plus isn’t your typical manga app, but it does offer the latest chapters of some of the most popular manga for free. What’s special about Manga Plus is that it’s an app developed by Shueisha, the company behind the Shonen Jump titles like Naruto, My Hero Academia, and Bleach.
The app gives you unlimited free access to the first and last three episodes from any manga, which is great if you’re only interested in catching the latest chapters. But if you’re behind on the series, you’ll need to go somewhere else or subscribe to its Standard or Deluxe plan.
Overall, it’s a great place for fans who want to read the latest issue as soon as it comes out.

5 Mangamo
Mangamo is a pretty straightforward app: you download it, pay a subscription, and you’re good to go. You get access to a library of over a thousand licensed titles, including Attack on Titan, The Seven Deadly Sins, and Fire Force.
Unfortunately, some of the most popular series are only partially available. Still, it’s a great way to read your favorite manga on the go. Plus, with the subscription, you’ll have access to all of it with no limits, and new chapters are added daily.
Another cool thing about Mangamo is that if you’re not sure you want to subscribe, you’ll get access to one chapter for free for 24 hours. That way, you can get hooked before you decide to pay.
And if you still don’t want to pay, you can read another chapter for free the next day. As a bonus, Mangamo is one of the best-designed apps on this list, which is always a big plus.

6 MangaToon
MangaToon offers comics, manga, novels, and stories told through chat. You can sort by the type of content you’re looking for on the app. MangaToon will sort through which stories are trending for the week so you can check out new authors and manga to read. This app also has the option to leave comments on stories.
If you’d like to read a specific comic, you sometimes have to pay an “unlocking fee” to get access to the story you’d like to read. Some titles are available on the app for free with coupons, but it depends on individual titles. You can also watch ads to unlock some chapters for free or use a limited number of reading coupons (that you must pay for) to read further into some stories.
One unique feature that MangaToon offers is that you can write and publish your own novels and chat stories.

7 Libby
Libby is a free app that pairs with your local library card. It’s entirely free as long as you have a local library login and allows you to rent ebooks and audiobooks. Depending on your library’s specifications, you can have anywhere from 5 to 20 books out at a given time, and you can join waitlists to access titles that are currently checked out.
You can search for a manga title, check it out, and then read it. For example, my local library has most of the original Sailor Moon series available for checkout. The downside of Libby, however, is that it is based on your local library’s catalog. Some libraries may have a more robust manga catalog than others.
Also, the wait time to check out a book can be long, sometimes even months, so it’s not ideal if you’re looking to read a new manga series immediately.
