Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers can now do more than just listen to music. Amazon has just announced a new perk for no additional charge.
Access One Audible Title Per Month
Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers in the U.S., UK, and Canada can now listen to one audiobook per month from Audible.
You can stream the audiobook title until the next monthly billing cycle begins. After that, you can select a new title or keep listening to one you’ve previously selected. If you want to listen to more than one audiobook per month, you will need to purchase an Audible subscription or purchase titles à la carte directly from the Audible app.
Starting late next year, Audible will be the home of a new co-production of the original Harry Potter stories. The full-cast audio productions will feature Dolby Atmos sound, more than 100 character voices, real-world sound capture, and scoring. Audible also has original and exclusive productions like Project Hail Mary and 1984.
If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can subscribe to Amazon Music Unlimited for $9.99 per month or $99 annually. That price jumps to $10.99 per month if you’re not a Prime member.
New subscribers, for a limited time, can receive three months of Amazon Music Unlimited for free.
Taking on Spotify With Audiobooks
The new Amazon Music Unlimited perk is a direct shot at Spotify. Starting last year, Spotify Premium subscribers gained access to 15 hours per month of audiobook listening. Instead of a specific book, that can be spread out among many titles.
You can also listen to some audiobooks on Spotify for free.
Spotify’s Premium Plan is $10.99 per month. If you’re interested in Spotify’s offering, steer clear of the Audiobook Access plan that’s just $1 less per month than Premium. It just offers the same 15 hours per month of audiobook playback but without ad-free music, offline listening, and more.
Amazon Music Unlimited isn’t as popular as Spotify or Apple Music, but offers a great value, especially if you’re a Prime subscriber. It’s nice to see Amazon add the audiobook perk without raising the subscription price.
