2025 is wrapping up, and honestly, the only good part about this stretch of the year is finally getting our Spotify Wrapped. Unfortunately, I wasn’t nearly as excited about it last time. Even though last year’s Wrapped had a few interesting touches, like the NotebookLM podcast, it still felt pretty underwhelming. But Wrapped 2025 just dropped, and it completely restored my faith in the whole thing.
Wrapped 2025 is more interactive and personal than ever
As announced via Spotify’s For the Record blog, Wrapped 2025 has officially dropped. You can view it right now by heading to the Spotify mobile app (both iOS and Android) and tapping the Wrapped button at the top. You can also jump straight in by hitting this link. If it’s not showing up yet, make sure your app is updated to the latest version.
Unlike previous years, where the slides felt a bit rigid and would go by before you properly viewed them, this year gives you way more control. This time, you get adjustable playback speed and the option to revisit specific moments without having to restart the entire thing.
Wrapped 2025 has a bunch of interactive elements to it, which is exactly why I love it so much. Top Genres is back, and there’s a fun little quiz where you have to guess your top track of the year. You’ll also see your top five artists “sprint” for the number-one spot, which is such a good visual touch.
The end-of-year recap feels completely refreshed too, with a ton of new stories baked in! For instance, Spotify will tell you your “Listening Age,” which essentially compares your musical tastes to others in your age group and assigns you an age based on the release years of your tracks. For the first time, you’ll also get to see your Top Albums and your top Audiobook Genre. While Wrapped typically includes messages from your top artists, this year expands that even further with clips from authors and podcasters too.
Towards the end of the recap, Spotify also added “Listening Archive,” which gives you personalized snapshots of your most memorable streaming days. Beyond just telling you the date and the song you had on repeat, it actually builds out short, AI-generated reports based on your daily listening patterns.
Listening party is the highlight of Wrapped 2025
My personal favorite, and probably the most exciting part of this year’s Wrapped, is the Wrapped Party feature. With this feature, you can invite up to nine friends and compare your listening statistics in real-time. As the statistics roll, and you see each other’s stats, you can also respond with emojis in real-time, which makes the entire experience super fun.
For instance, you and your friends will get a bunch of different awards throughout the party! I tried it out with Adam Conway from over at XDA, and one of the awards I received was The Onion Chopper Award (which, frankly, was accurate). Similarly, Adam was awarded The Full Throttle Award, which again, was accurate too! At the end of the party, we were given a collective award: The Sonically Synced Award.
Your Top Songs playlist will also include the play counts for each of your top tracks this year. This is something I’d usually head to Last.fm to track, so I’m glad Spotify finally pulled it into Wrapped. All in all, this year’s Wrapped was enough to restore my faith in Spotify’s ability to actually make the experience feel fun, personal, and worth looking forward to again.
My only, only question is: what do I look forward to now that I’ve already gone through all of it? Wrapped season came and went way too fast. On that note, YouTube’s first end-of-year recap started rolling out yesterday too. Apple Music Replay and Amazon Music’s recaps are out as well, so it looks like the battle of the year-end music recaps is officially on!
