If you’re a romance fan, there are two major new releases to look forward to in September.

First up is perhaps the most autumnal name I can think of — Pumpkin Spice and Promises by Nora Everly releases on September 1, 2026. Expect a small-town harvest festival, a Mr. Pumpkin pageant, and a pumpkin spice latte in hand. Best of all, it’s available on Kindle Unlimited for free!

On September 15, 2026, B.K. Borison launches Grim Tidings, the most atmospheric and whimsical entry so far in the beloved Ghosted series. You’ve got time to catch up if you’ve not been reading this series. People who enjoy their romance with a good dose of supernatural charm and a strong sense of tension will discover that this enemies-to-lovers story is perfect for them. Darcy Moore is a weary Grim Reaper who chooses to save her next victim rather than take their life. The problem is that Guardian Angel Gabriel isn’t happy about a rogue reaper appearing on his territory. If you’re looking for an absolute juggernaut of a fantasy release to completely swallow up your autumn evenings, September 29 brings the highly anticipated arrival of Threshing Day by Rebecca Yarros. Returning to the blockbuster world of the Empyrean series, this special volume treats fans to thirteen unforgettable stories starring beloved characters and their dragons. History and crime geeks, I’ve not forgotten about you

If you’re interested in rich history or hard-edged city stories, then September has two major new releases for you.

On the 15th of September, Kate Atkinson publishes Our Noble Selves (with UK Kindle availability landing on the 10th) for around $14.99–$16.99). The book is set in 1951 and centres on the journalist Harry Flynn, who becomes involved in a murder mystery at the Festival of Britain. Since he has still not come to terms with his days as a prisoner of war, the main theme of Harry’s story is how to cope with the past. Atkinson once again shows her usual sense of humour and compassion in this novel.

On September 18, Dreda Say Mitchell releases Rise and Fall; thanks to her skill in plotting and her insight into urban areas, her latest tough UK-centric gangland crime thriller will keep Kindle readers turning pages well into the night.
