The time has come: Plex is finally increasing its Life Plex Pass price. The good news is that up until April 29, 2025, you can snap one up at the cheaper, original price.
Plex Finally Increases Its Plex Pass Price—but You Can Snag a Deal
The official Plex blog revealed that on April 29, 2025, the Plex Pass price will rise from $4.99 to $6.99 per month. The price increases also apply to the Annual and Lifetime plan:
- Monthly: $4.99 to $6.99
- Annual: $39.99 to $69.99
- Lifetime: $119.99 to $249.99
It’s a big price increase, no doubt. However, Plex hasn’t increased its Plex Pass price for over a decade, and it’s still remarkably good value.
Second, you can grab the Lifetime Plex Pass at its current price ($119.99) before the price changes take effect. That gives you around six weeks from the time of writing, so don’t hang around for too long.
Plex Is Changing Its Remote Playback Options, Too
The price increase isn’t the only change, and the second adustment will affect many Plex users. Plex is moving remote playback inside the Plex Pass subscription—but it’s also rolling out a new Remote Watch Pass at the same time.
Plex’s new Remote Watch Pass is designed for individual users, allowing you to stream from your Plex library to personal remote devices. It’s basically a more cost-effective version than the Monthly Plex Pass, costing just $1.99 per month or $19.99 annually.
It’s a stripped-back offering, mind, but it allows personal remote streaming. That means from April 29, 2025, you’ll only be able to access remote Plex playback using one of these two methods.
Plex Is Removing Its Mobile Unlock Fee
As a final parting gift, Plex is doing away with one of its biggest frustrations: the mobile unlock fee. The Android and iOS mobile apps previously required a one-time activation to access any video content playback (or at least more than one minute of playback).
Now, Plex is waiving that fee, and you can stream your Plex library on your local network to any device at any time.
