One of the perks of paying for Netflix is the range of mobile games that come with your subscription. And the latest game available to Netflix subscribers for free is an absolute cracker. In fact, despite being several years old, the game is considered one of the best strategy games of all time.
Netflix Subscribers Can Now Play Civilization VI for Free
In case you haven’t guessed by now, the game in question is Civilization VI. Civilization VI is a 4X, turn-based strategy game originally released on Windows and macOS in 2016. Since then, it has been ported to multiple platforms, including Android and iOS.
Now, Netflix subscribers can play the Platinum Edition on their mobile for free. All that’s required is an active Netflix membership which is used to access the game. Not only is it free to play, there are zero in-app purchases or ads either. Meaning you can enjoy the game without interruption.
The Platinum Edition includes the base game, plus all the expansion packs that added hours of extra playtime and more varied gameplay. The two major expansions included alongside smaller updates are Rise and Fall (which adds the concept of civilizations rising and falling) and Gathering Storm (which adds natural disasters to the mix).
To play the Netflix version of Civilization VI: Platinum Edition, you’ll need to download it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Then just sign in to your Netflix account to be granted access. Just be sure to download the Netflix version of the game rather than the regular version (which will cost you money).
Civilization VI Is a Game Worth Investing Your Time In
I would heartily recommend taking advantage of this Netflix membership perk, as Civilization VI is a fantastic game worth investing some time in. However, do bear in mind that this is the mobile version of the game, and smartphones aren’t the best platform to play complex strategy games such as this one on.
Still, it’s not only free to play, it’s also free of ads, and comes with the wealth of content added by the expansion packs and updates released since the game originally debuted. Making it a no-brainer to download and play, even if you just want to see what all the fuss is about.
If Civilization VI isn’t your bag, just remember that Netflix offers dozens of other mobile games too. All free-to-play, and free of ads. I previously wrote an article all about Netflix’s mobile games, and recommended five of my absolute favorites. But I’ll now be adding Civilization VI to that list.
