We know how exciting our own food scene is, but it’s time the world at large recognize that as well.
That will soon be the case: the instantly recognizable Michelin Guide recently released a list of most exciting foodie destinations for 2025—and Miami makes an appearance in the Americas section alongside Austin and Mexico City.
We are, indeed, extremely proud—but not too surprised: after all, a ton of new restaurants have recently announced their opening in town, from the Parisian-inspired La Grande Boucherie to the viral, NYC-based destination PopUp Bagels. We are a town of foodies!
Miami’s track record with the Michelin organization is also an indication of its culinary greatness: we are home to 64 Michelin restaurants, including 17 best-value picks.
“Whether you’re at a food truck, beachfront café, or fine dining restaurant […], Miami’s multicultural food scene celebrates evolving culinary traditions, blending diverse ingredients and cooking styles,” reads an official press release by the guide. “Expect an abundance of fresh seafood too, from ceviche to stone crab, thanks to Miami’s prime coastal location and an undiluted taste of street food and home cooking in neighborhoods like Little Haiti and Little Havana, all supported by a thriving cocktail scene and a growing focus on sustainable, locally sourced ingredients.”
Looking beyond the Americas, the Michelin Guide also selected Bangkok, Osaka, Fujian and Da Nang in Asia as exciting foodie cities for 2025, alongside Vienna, Amsterdam and Bath in Europe. You might as well consider the picks your unofficial travel guide for the year.
