I’m a McDonald’s worker and I ranked the worst jobs here

Many secrets are hidden behind the golden arches of McDonald’s, but one TikTok user has revealed the reality of what it’s like to work inside the fast-food chain.

A poster who goes by @mcdonalds_hacks101 takes users behind-the-scenes at the McDonald’s franchise in his videos, even giving his definitive rankings of workstation positions rated on a scale from one to 10.

“Hey, guys. Today, we’re going to be rating McDonald’s positions. Let’s go,” he says in one clip, which has been viewed more than 171,000 times.

The TikToker ranked the positions from least favorite to favorite, beginning with the fry station — which he claims is the worst station to work.

“I absolutely hate this piece of s–t. It is a zero out of 10,” he declares.

He then moves to the register in the front, which he gives a six out of 10.

Running and presenting food received a seven out of 10 — although he admitted it’s less enjoyable when it gets hectic — while cooking got an eight out of 10.

However, the perfect score went to the drive-thru, or the “pit,” which got 10 out of 10.

Running between the back kitchen and the front counter is one of the better positions, according to the TikToker.

“I am mostly [here], so I’d have to rate it at a 10 out of 10 because this is where I’m most comfortable,” he explained.

Seasoned McDonald’s workers commented on the video, disputing and agreeing with his rankings.

“I love running ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS PACKED,” one user commented.

“lmao fry station was the worst. I spent many years managing and supervising in Michigan. I think u are awesome,” another wrote.

Others thought he’d gotten the rankings wrong.

“Fries is my favorite because you don’t have to deal with any customers,” someone responded to the video,

“Runner>presenter but during a rush backcash [pit] >runner>presenter,” one person declared, while another called the pit “punishment.”

McDonald’s workers — past and present — often take to the video-sharing platform to share their secrets. Last month, user Georgia Zacki, who reportedly used to work at the fast-food chain, claimed the McFlurry machine always seems to be on the fritz because employees turn it off when it gets too busy.

“It’s not ’cause we’ve run out — that’s a lie,” she said, adding why you should “never” order fries, alleging that employees often stick their hands in and eat a fry or two so you never know who your fries may have been touched by.

Another user, Tizzy Tay, claimed to know the secrets behind McDonald’s eggs and shared a clip of him making scrambled eggs from an egg mixture in a carton labeled (in Spanish): “Liquid Egg Product.”

On the website, McDonald’s says “liquid real butter” is used to prepare the eggs, adding that it uses “liquid eggs” for other breakfast items including scrambled eggs, “folded eggs, like the ones on a Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit” and “Sausage Burrito Eggs.”
