If you’ve been wanting to sign up for Amazon Prime but don’t necessarily know how, you’re in the right place. Amazon Prime bundles next-day delivery (depending where you live), entertainment and a bunch of extras into a single subscription.
Amazon Prime members get free, fast delivery on many eligible items (watch out for delivery charges on non-Prime items) – and sometimes you can get same-day delivery too.
Also included is Prime Video for films, TV and Amazon Originals and Prime Music for ad-free songs and podcasts. Prime Reading adds a rotating selection of ebooks and magazines, while Prime Gaming brings free games and other in-game content.
Amazon Prime members get access to exclusive Prime Day deals and this also covers some additional deals events such as Amazon Prime Big Deals Days.
How much does it cost?
A Prime membership costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year in the US. In the UK, it costs £8.99 per month or £95 per year. Amazon also offers discounted memberships with many of the same benefits, including fast, free delivery on millions of items, exclusive perks, and savings for eligible members. Amazon offers a 30-day free trial of Prime, giving you the chance to try its range of benefits without paying a membership fee. It’s a simple way to see whether Prime is worth it for you before committing to a subscription.
After the trial, it’ll set you back for the year, or a month, but you can cancel the trial at any time, of course.
Students and 18–24-year-olds can get 50% off and enjoy Prime’s benefits after an initial six-month free trial (yes – six months!). In the US, membership costs $7.49 per month or $69 per year; in the UK, it’s £4.49 per month or £47.49 per year. Check that out for the the US and for the UK. It’s half the price of a regular Prime membership and eligible members can get a 6-month free trial.
In addition to the standard Prime benefits, 18-24-year-olds will also have access to exclusive perks, including 10% off selected fashion products from brands such as Champion, Puma, Vans, and Levi’s and 10% off shopping with Amazon Fresh.
Where is Amazon Prime available?
Amazon Prime is offered in a limited set of countries across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East. Countries include the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan and India.
However, Prime Video is much more widely available. It has been launched in more than 200 countries and territories. As I mentioned, it’s included in Prime membership where full Amazon Prime is available and elsewhere it’s sold as a standalone subscription.
Prime benefits vary by country, and some services have additional paid content.
