No stomach for three hours of weeping hobbits? These films get the job done in half the time We all love an epic movie now and again, but sometimes you just don’t want to sit through two and a half hours of tedious exposition, giant robots punching each other or little people rambling through the countryside. To that end, we’ve scoured the best streaming services to assemble a collection of the best short movies that don’t muck about. All of these movies clock in at 90 minutes or less. That hour-and-a-half sweet spot is ideal for weeknight watching and –…
The S6 and S6 open aren’t just VanMoof’s latest fashion-forward, tech-infused e-bikes. They’re a statement of intent from a brand that’s been revitalised under new ownership – and which still isn’t scared to do things a little differently from the rest of the electric bike world. Having weathered some stormy seas in recent years, the firm is returning stronger under the stewardship of Lavoie and McLaren Applied. The S6 and S6 Open promise a smoother ride, smarter security and styling guaranteed to draw attention wherever you ride it, but also greater reliability and the firm’s biggest ever service network. Both…
There are plenty of video doorbell options to pick from, but most can set you back hundreds. You can opt for some more affordable options, but they often offer fewer features. Not this ringer from Imou. The Doorbell 2S Kit is the first video doorbell to come with a camera that can pan – giving you 180-degrees of vision. And, it still manages to come in for under $100/£100. This isn’t just a gimmick. The Doorbell 2S uses a 3-megapixel, 2K lens with a 30-degree pan capability tacked onto a 166-degree wide-angle lens. Add that together and you’ve got 180-degree panoramic coverage…
Given he was just days away from unveiling the first all-new e-bikes produced under his watch, it’d be understandable if Eliott Wertheimer was a little on edge when we sat down over video call to talk all things S6 and S6 Open – but the VanMoof co-CEO was in great spirits. The new bikes are meant to represent a turning point for the Dutch firm, now under new ownership. Issues of the past have been addressed, and there’s more tech squeezed inside than ever. And as I’d already visited the Dutch firm’s R&D warehouse for an early ride of a…
It’s not often I get out of a car and immediately feel like my own vehicle is suddenly ancient tech, but that’s how I felt after a day with Apple CarPlay Ultra in the 2025 Aston Martin DBX. This isn’t just a prettier version of the CarPlay you’ve used before, it’s a complete takeover – one interface stretched seamlessly across all the car’s screens, from the instrument cluster to the centre display. And once you’ve experienced that level of clarity and cohesion, there’s no going back. Android Auto in my own car now feels like a jumbled mess. Aston Martin…
It’s June 10, 2025, and if you tried to get ChatGPT to help with your homework, write some code, or even just plan your workout, you probably ran into a wall of silence. This isn’t the first time it’s happened, and it won’t be the last. But each time it happens, it has a bigger impact on our lives. So What If ChatGPT Is Down Again? My first clue was when I asked for a workout routine and got back a string of nonsense, followed by nothing at all. I checked my VPN and restarted my browser, but a quick…
When the next version of iOS lands on your iPhone this July, it’ll look wildly different from what you’re used to. Apple has given its smartphone interface a liquid glass overhaul – and is bringing the iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV along for the ride. Your homescreen, control centre, app icons and apps themselves will all see changes. Here’s what to expect from the unified design – and what you can do to dial it down if you’re not a fan of translucent effects. What is liquid glass? Apple’s new look, revealed at WWDC 2025, basically takes the…
Yep, you read that right. Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 is at the top of my list of the best upcoming phones. Or at least, it was. That’s because I don’t think the next iPhone will be called the 17. In fact, I think Apple’s going to break its (more or less intact) 18-year naming streak to entirely ditch the numbers from the name. “Why, oh why, dare I make such a daring statement?”, you may ask. At WWDC 2025, Apple unveiled its latest software for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. Except, instead of calling the next major iPhone update…
One of the things that Apple didn’t say during its developer conference keynote talk emerged soon after. During another session at WWDC25 (that Apple calls ‘Platforms State of the Union’) it was announced that this year’s macOS 26 Tahoe will be the last to support Intel-based Mac laptops and desktops. And that’s why you’ll probably want to upgrade over the next couple of years. That means 2019 and early-to-mid 2020 Macs will lose support earlier than they otherwise would. But by late 2026 when macOS 27 comes out, it will be six years since the last Intel Macs were released…
As Apple’s WWDC25 keynote dragged on for what felt like its customary 37 hours, it quickly dawned on me that this year’s epic was all about one thing: glass. But not just any glass: Liquid Glass! Apple has decided the future is see-through. And not just for its $3500 face computers either. This time every iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV is getting a dose of visionOS. I almost want to congratulate Apple on its ‘bravery’ in pushing a unified design language across its entire product line, inspired by what’s effectively a failed platform. Except I don’t, because Liquid Glass has…
