The Viz Media and Shonen Jump apps share similar interfaces, but Viz offers unique titles like the works of Junji Ito. Viz Media provides classic and mature manga at $2/month, making it more cost-effective, while Shonen Jump targets a younger audience for $3/month. If you’re into Japanese manga like I am, you probably have a subscription to the Shonen Jump app. It is only $3 a month and offers hundreds of titles. Enough people already have trouble separating fact from fiction on social media. But Meta has decided it’s going to make things even worse. How? AI. Specifically how? By dreaming up Meta AI slop that it will inject directly into your Instagram and Facebook feeds. Sometimes with your actual face attached. When reading this news, I wondered if I was in the grip of a fever dream. I had my first bout of covid in August. Perhaps I remained in its thrall, in that barely coherent state that occurs when a virus is kicking seven shades out of your immune system. But no.…
When we eagerly threw out our DVDs in favor of a clutter-free lifestyle with streaming, we took for granted the security of physical media. Now, we might encounter series and films disappearing from our paid streaming platforms, or worse, the removal of media we thought we actually “owned” in perpetuity. A new California law intends to protect consumers from misleading sales of movies, games, books and other digital goods. California Expands False Advertising Protections According to California’s Digital Democracy database, the law, called AB 2426: Consumer protection: false advertising: digital goods, would expand on existing legislation that prohibits false advertising.…
NewsWritten by Falyn WoodEditor, Time Out MiamiFriday September 27 2024ShareCopy LinkFacebookTwitterPinterestEmailWhatsAppOne of the most exciting parts about visiting a chef’s tasting-style restaurant, aside from the food itself, is the knowledge that the entire experience has been meticulously curated from start to finish. One of our favorite omakase spots in Miami, for instance, serves its sake in the most delicate earthenware vessels, each with a different shape and handpainted pattern, no two the same. Part of the thrill is the palpable feeling, illusion or not, that this space and moment have been choreographed just for you by a team of people…
Looking for the best password manager around? We don’t blame you. Forgetting your passwords and going through the tedious motions of resetting them is something we could all do without. Sure, you could use the same password for everything including the best VPN, but that’s obviously asking for trouble. And choosing a secure, unique password for all of your accounts is an option only suitable for those with super-human brains. At least, that’s what we tell ourselves. So unless you actually enjoy impossible CAPTCHAS and jumping through hoops trying to identify pictures of buses, bridges, and bicycles, why not make…
Lego’s birthplace of Billund in Denmark has been home to Lego House for quite a few years now, a showcase for Lego’s history and a place for play. There are an estimated 25 million Lego bricks in the building, so there’s plenty going on. The Masterpiece Gallery at the top of the building is where big builds by adult fans (known as AFOLs) get displayed. Previously the gallery had three dinosaurs in it made from different types of Lego; one Technic, one Duplo and one made using normal bricks. Now, 15 adult fans hailing from nine different countries are having…
Compact is a relative term these days: smartphones that were once considered pocket-filling phablets are now par for the course. But if you want a mobile that’s easier to tote than the models on our overall best smartphones list, what’s the best small phone you can buy? There’s no escaping that handset dimensions have expanded considerably over the last decade – but some use frame-filling displays to maximise every inch of screen space, making them more manageable than your average modern flagship. Whether you’ve got smaller paws or simply want a smartphone that doesn’t demand quite so much pocket space,…

LG has some of the best smart TVs on the market, including high-end OLED models. But while you might be paying upwards of $5,000 for a TV set, that doesn’t mean you’ll be free from advertisements. Say Hello to Screensaver Ads LG has added screensaver ads on all of its smart TVs, including the OLED models. All the ads appear before the regular screensaver begins and are localized to the region the TV is set in. The ads were first noticed by FlatPanels HD during a review of one of the most recent LG models. According to the report, the…
Over in Japan, the annual Tokyo Game Show has begun, and to help kick off proceedings, Xbox had its own Tokyo Game Show broadcast today (26th September, 11am BST). The US-based platform holder may not be as popular in Japan compared to the likes of Nintendo (which historically doesn’t participate at TGS) or PlayStation, which already has its own State of Play earlier this week, but Xbox nonetheless has a big presence on the showfloor, with billboards of the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle also put up around the Makuhari Messe. While light on new announcements from Xbox…
