Onyx BOOX just dropped three new ePaper devices, adding to their Note and Palma lines. If you’re tired of staring at LCD screens, these might be for you. The new lineup includes the Note Air6 C, Palma 3, and Note Mini C, all running Android 16 with either color or black-and-white ePaper screens.

Here’s what you need to know
It’s got a 10.3-inch color ePaper screen, 6GB of RAM, and a faster processor. BOOX says it turns pages quicker and has better wireless. You can take notes side by side and snap on a keyboard cover, but heads up: the keyboard and stylus cost extra. If you’re looking for something to get you reading and drawing again, this could be it. The Note Mini C is due to launch soon
Prices start at $579.99 in the United States and $549.99/£549.99/€579.99 in the European Union. Availability on Amazon is expected to be added afterwards.
The Note Mini C has an 8.5-inch color ePaper screen and packs in all the features of the bigger Note tablets. It’s lighter and easier to hold, but still lets you get stuff done. BOOX says you’ll get all-day use on one charge, and the battery can last weeks on standby. It comes with 6GB RAM, 64GB storage, microSD support up to 2TB, and works with the new magnetic InkSight stylus.
BOOX Palma 3 is a refreshing, purpose-built design
The Palma 3 is coming soon, starting at $339.99 in the US and €339.99/£319.99 in Europe. It’ll hit Amazon after launch. We liked the Palma 2, and the new Palma 3 is still phone-sized, but now has a sharper black-and-white screen with deeper blacks and better contrast for distraction-free reading.
It runs Android 16, has 128GB storage, a microSD slot, and works with the InkSense Plus stylus. You can load up tons of books and audiobooks to take anywhere.
Why might someone prefer these over a Kindle?
Thinking of switching from Kindle? BOOX lets you install all kinds of reading and productivity apps, not just Amazon’s. Since it runs open Android, you can use Kindle, Kobo, and more, plus get better PDF tools and handwritten notes. The color screens and stylus support are a nice bonus if you want more than just basic reading.
That said, Kindles are still great if you want something simple with long battery life and easy Amazon syncing. If you mostly read Amazon books and want a no-fuss experience, Kindle is still a solid pick.
