Another weekend approaches, which means another opportunity to get cozy on the couch and take in some new shows and movies on Netflix. Because Netflix is always adding new content to its library; it’s just a matter of knowing what’s worth watching. This is our guide to the biggest and best new releases.
The Airport Chaplain

The Airport Chaplain is an Australian drama about an airport “fixer” named Tobias Wallace (Hugo Weaving) who is dedicated to his job to the point where he doesn’t think the airport can run without him. He has an unusual but effective way of dealing with the daily crises that unfold in the terminal, but his new boss Mira (Shabana Azeez) thinks he’s a liability.
The Airport Chaplain looks like a solid workplace drama, and the cast cannot be gainsaid. The big draw is Hugo Weaving, known for playing Agent Smith in The Matrix movies and Elrond in The Lord of the Rings films.
The Airport Chaplain isn’t actually made by Netflix, so it’s not beholden to some of the streamer’s usual rules. Case in point: episodes will air weekly rather than be dropped all at once.
Beauty in Black Season 3
The popular Tyler Perry show returns
Between sitcoms like House of Payne and the Madea movies, Tyler Perry has built a media empire. Beauty in Black is an ongoing drama series about a stripper named Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) who marries the patriarch of a wealthy family that runs a haircare empire.
Kimmie finds herself trying to stay ahead of the cutthroat tactics of her new in-laws. In Season 3, she finally seems to be closing in on real power, but finds that keeping control is even harder than getting it.
All eight episodes of Black in Beauty are available to stream on Netflix right now.

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look
Hop aboard the hype train
Grand Theft Auto VI is, without question, the most hotly anticipated video game release of the year, and quite possibly of the past 10 years. The game will be set in a fictional set called Leonida, which is based on Florida. You’ll pick whether you want to play as a male or female lead character, and then do whatever you want.
Netflix subscribers are getting an early first look at the game. Learn about the gameplay mechanics, the story, and the remarkable graphics before the game actually becomes available to play on November 19, 2026. This first look will also be released on channels operated by Rockstar Games, but Netflix users get the first crack at it.
Leanne Season 2
Settle back with a traditional sitcom
Created by Chuck Lorre, the guy behind sitcoms like The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men, Leanne is built about stand-up comedian Leanne Morgan, who plays a woman whose life is shattered when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Supporting players include her younger sister Carol (Kirsten Johnson), and their elder parents, who require a lot of help.
Leanne is a straightforward sitcom with a laugh track and a lot of jokes about aging and family, all of it supported by Morgan’s unique, laid-back charm. This is an easy one to binge.

The Whisper Man
A legend, Adam Scott, and a serial killer
This crime thriller stars Adam Scott (Severance) as a widowed crime writer whose 8-year-old son is abducted by a serial killer who, like many monsters before him, communicates in creepy rhymes. Scott’s character turns to his estranged father, a retired police detective with a connection to the killer, to help get his son back.
The legendary Robert De Niro (Taxi Driver, Goodfellas) plays the father, which is quite an impressive get for what otherwise might be a standard crime movie. The movie is based on the bestselling novel by Alex North and runs just under two hours.
