I’m pretty sure Govee won’t rest until every last inch of my house and garden are covered in colour-changing LEDs. The smart light specialist’s latest effort doesn’t even need to take up permanent residence: it’s a freestanding installation that can jazz up any corner of your yard, no drills or ladders required.
The Govee Lightwall, which is on sale in the US right now for $450, has what the firm says is the industry’s highest LED density: a whopping 1536 RGBIC bulbs cover a 6.2×8.5m area, giving you a 32×48 pixel grid that can be customised with all sorts of effects and animations at up to 35fps. That essentially makes it an even more detailed version of the Curtain Lights Pro I tested last year.
It clips into a lightweight aluminium frame that can be thrown up (and torn down) in ten minutes, without any tools. As backdrops for backyard DJs go, I imagine it’s hard to beat.
A carry case is then included in the box for lugging it to your friends’ garden parties – which, based on the photos Govee sent to announce the new model, I’m clearly missing out on.

The whole thing is IP65 resistant, so will survive a rain shower intact, and naturally it plays nicely with the Govee Home smartphone companion app. The app has over 200 preset animations, 10 music modes that sync the illuminations to your party soundtrack, and a text-to-gif mode powered by cloud AI that can create impressively specific custom effects.
There’s voice control through Amazon Alexa and Google Home, as well as Matter integration for an easy connection to your existing smart home kit.
The Govee Lightwall is US-only for now: you can get one for $450 from Amazon and direct from Govee.
