Netflix hiked up its prices again, and it’s more expensive than ever. Still, I’m not planning to cancel my subscription anytime soon—this is why.
Exclusive, High-Quality Originals
This Netflix price hike comes with a promise to continue producing high-quality original content—and it’s worth it. Shows like Squid Game, The Crown, and Ozark have captivated audiences worldwide. Netflix not only creates its own content but also takes risks regarding diversity and representation.
For instance, Master of None explores the experiences of a first-generation Indian-American, while Orange is the New Black features a diverse cast tackling social issues. Netflix also provides extensive audio and subtitle options, making it accessible and immersive for a global audience.
Reliable, Fast Streaming (Even on the Slow Internet)
Another reason that Netflix is a good choice is its reliable streaming service. Living in a rural area with spotty connections, I was used to constant buffering and grainy video. But that changed with Netflix.
Its smart algorithms adjust the video quality to match my internet speed, so the stream stays smooth even if the resolution drops. I hardly have playback issues anymore, and if I do, they’re just quick hiccups. Even when traveling, Netflix adapts to my connection, letting me binge my favorite shows without interruption. You can also manually change your Netflix viewing settings if required.
Strong Recommendation Algorithm
And finally, I love Netflix because of its recommendation algorithm. It’s so spot-on with my viewing habits that it sometimes feels like it knows me better than I know myself. After finishing Stranger Things, Netflix suggested The Umbrella Academy, which sounded intriguing. Sure, the algorithm isn’t always perfect, but it’s way better at finding stuff I’d enjoy—something I can’t say for other platforms. You can even reset your Netflix recommendations if they start serving up content you’re not keen on.
Amazon Prime suggestions are often sporadic and hit-or-miss. I even tried watching Dark because it was a recommendation, and yeah, it wasn’t for me. Netflix, however, really nails it with personalized recommendations, making it easier to find stuff I’m into.
So, these are my reasons for choosing Netflix over other streaming services. The subscription is pricey, but it’s still a winner in my books. And given all the original content they keep dropping, I don’t see myself leaving anytime soon.
