Fans of classical music tend to a. be very, very into classical music, and b. not have much interest in other genres. That may be generalizing a little, but it explains why a dedicated streaming service just for classical music makes more sense than one for any other genre. And now, there’s another way to listen to Apple Music Classical.
Apple Music Classical Is Now Available on the Web
Apple Music Classical is now available on the web, with Apple launching a dedicated web player for its classical music spin-off. Apple Music Classical was already available as an app for iOS, Android, and CarPlay, but it’s now available on the web too.
This brings Apple Music subscribers access to the world’s largest collection of classical music (with over 5 million tracks from both famous and obscure composers) directly on the web. Meaning that they can access it on any device with a web browser.
In launching Apple Music Classical for the web, Anjali Malhotra, Global Director of Apple Music Classical, said:
“Apple Music Classical continues to innovate and expand on its mission to bring great musicians and their recordings to music lovers around the world all in one app. Now that the app is available on the web, Apple Music Classical’s catalog of over 5 million tracks and 50 million datapoints are now available for those who primarily use their desktops to listen to music.”
Apple has clearly decided to bring Apple Music Classical to the web before launching a dedicated Mac app. Or Apple TV for that matter. Then again, if the web player is good enough (and it does appear to do the job), it somewhat eliminates the need for a dedicated Mac or Windows app anyway.
An Apple Music Offshoot for Classical Music Fans
Apple Music Classical is, as the name suggests, an offshoot of Apple Music aimed purely at fans of classical music. It was launched in 2023, but was built on top of Primephonic, a classical music app that Apple acquired in 2021.
