When you watch a long movie or a full season of a show, there are usually only a couple of standout moments that need to be seen. And it’s those moments that Netflix’s new Moments feature is all about.
Netflix’s Moments Is Now Available on Android
In October, Netflix launched its new Moments feature alongside a broader marketing campaign talking up the unforgettable moments from its various movies and television shows. However, initially, Moments was only available on iOS.
Now, Netflix’s Moments feature is also available on the Android app. Which means that you can now save or share your favorite moments from Netflix movies and shows, regardless of which operating system is powering your smartphone.
The Moments feature lets you capture a short snippet from the movie or show you’re watching on Netflix. You can then save it to rewatch later, or share it with other people you think will also enjoy the scene.
Once captured, your Moments will be saved to your My Netflix tab. You can then rewatch them at will, as many times as you want, or share them with others at any point after that. And all with just a couple of taps.
To capture Moments, watch something on Netflix, and then, at the point the scene starts, tap the Moments button in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Assuming you have captured the right part of the show, tap Save to save it. Once saved, you then have the option of playing it, deleting it, or sharing it via your favorite social media sites.
Netflix Wants to Appeal to the TikTok Generation
With Moments, Netflix is clearly (and cleverly) trying to tap into the TikTok generation’s needs. Those needs being short, snappy content they can watch quickly on their phones, and the need to share the things they love with other people.
Moments manages to nail both of those things. People are going to share clips from shows online regardless, so Netflix may as well make it as easy to do as possible. Especially when that one shared clip could lead family and friends to watch the whole movie or series it comes from.
As the “It’s so good” video shows, it’s these standout moments that can come to define whole movies or shows these days. And one scene going viral online can prompt millions of people to watch something they would otherwise have ignored.
