If you’re a Netflix subscriber, you can always be sure you’ll be able to find new content to watch. Last weekend, there wasn’t much in the way of new original content, but there were plenty of older movies and shows being added to the platform. This time around, Netflix is bringing us lots of stuff you won’t be able to get anywhere else, from reality series to literary adaptations and beyond.
Let’s Marry Harry

Harry Jowsey gained some notoriety after appearing on a different Netflix dating series called Perfect Match. Now he has a reality series all his own. Let’s Marry Harry will pair him up with 20 women all vying for his affection.
There will be drama. There will be heartache. There will be contrivances. These kinds of shows basically exist to create pressure-cooker situations and then record things when people inevitably get emotional and break down. “It looks good on paper to have 20 fiancés, but it is chaos,” Harry says in the trailer without a trace of irony.
Shows like this are a little trashy, but trash is fun sometimes. You can stream the whole thing now.
One Hundred Years of Solitude Part 2

One Hundred of Solitude is based on the 1967 book of the same name by Columbia author Gabriel García Marquez. The book is widely considered a masterpiece of magical realism, and Netflix is adapting the story over the course of two seasons of TV. The first seven episodes of Season 2 are now available to stream, although the two-hour finale won’t be available until August 26.
One Hundred of Solitude covers the century-long story of the Buendía family, whose patriarch, José Arcadio Buendía, founds the fictional town of Macondo. The second season will pick up with a new generation of Buendías as progress and modernity reshape the town, setting it on an inevitable path towards decline.

My Life With the Walter Boys is a coming-of-age drama about Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez), a 15-year-old girl from New York City whose parents die in a car accident. She goes to live in rural Colorado with the Walter family, who have seven boys and one girl.
The show is a gentle slice-of-life drama with some romantic wish fulfillment mixed in, as multiple brothers compete over Jackie’s affections. My Life With the Walter Boys has already been renewed for a fourth season, so if you get hooked, know that there’s more on the way.

Alley Cats

Alley Cats is a new adult animated comedy created, directed and co-produced by Ricky Gervais, the English comedian who also created shows like Extras and the original British version of The Office. Gervais also stars as a cat named Gus, who is “fat, lazy, rude and opinionated.”
This six-part series is described as a “slacker sitcom.” It follows Gus and his fellow street cats (there are nine in the group, naturally) as they explore their urban surroundings. It also stars other names from British comedy, including Diane Morgan, David Earl, Tom Basden, Kerry Godliman, Andrew Brooke, and Jo Harley.

Operation Safed Sagar: The Untold Story of the Kargil War

Set against the backdrop of the 1999 Kargil War between India and Pakistan, this Indian war drama dramatizes the exploits of the Golden Arrows Squadron, a division of the Indian Air Force that flew behind enemy lines during the conflict. The series follows the lives of the pilots and their families as they put themselves at great personal risk.

The Last House

The Last House may be the highest-profile Netflix original release of the week. Directed by action veteran Louis Leterrier (The Transporter, The Incredible Hulk), the movie is a genre-bending sci-fi horror film about a family who wake up one day to find that they are incapable of leaving their house. They soon learn that this phenomenon appears to have settled over the entire world.
The family is trapped in the house for years, surviving and trying to pass the time. What is causing this? What happens if they manage to get outside, where nature has reclaimed much of civilization? At almost two hours long, the movie will have plenty of time to dig into these questions, and looks like it will terrify audiences in the process.
